I’m pretty sure you found the situation that you are doing a benchmarking and want to share a screenshot but avoiding your personal details to be exposed. Continue reading for a quick solution without using other tools than Figma

First copy your Screenshot in your figma:

Original image with all the conversation

What we are going to use is the Blur layer effect but to do that we need to crop first the pieces we want to blur.

  1. So we duplicate our original image to create our first field to offuscate.
With the duplicated image we just choose the option on the top to crop the image

Then we drag the corners of the image to crop the part we want to offuscate:

To finish the cropping just Click outside or Press Enter

With the image selected on the Design panel create a new Effect “Layer blur” by clicking on “+”. Click on the “sun” icon on the left to edit the value to 15 or 20. If you need enlarge the image to cover the image in the background.

This is the result of the Effect on the layer.

Once you are done creating the different layers for this mockup select them and put it in a Frame with the option in the menu (right mouse click) -> Frame Selection.

Now if you flatten the Frame it will create a mess with Blur layer.

I recommend selecting the Frame with all images included, exporting the image on the right column “Design” > Export with the button “Export Frame YOUR FRAME NAME”.

Now paste the exported image in Figma and you can delete the Frame with the contents.

That’s all! I hope it helps. I could not find any plugin to automate the workflow. If you find something please drop me a line and I will update this article.
